ELIZABETH AND THE TALBOT

To me, this very elegant and futuristic looking car looks like a car that the elegant girl in the picture (my oldest daughter, Elizabeth) would have driven to the riverside for some contemplation, and that’s why I choose it for the original painting. In reality this 1938 Talbot-Lago T150SS is one of two Super Sports coupes that competed at LeMans in 1938. As people look at this painting they often ask questions: what is she thinking? What is the title of the book by her side? Where are her shoes? Why is she alone? These questions are all part of the beauty of a great painting, the mystery that draws us into the painting and involves us in it.
